Cox wins ABA tournament
The American Bass Anglers (ABA) is once again in North Georgia and is holding
tournaments on Lake Allatoona now through 2008.
Brian Cox, from Woodstock, won the ABA tournament with five spotted bass
weighing 16.47 pounds. The tournament was held Oct. 6.
"This doesn't happen very much, but when it does it's great to be in a
tournament,” Cox said. “I caught most of my fish on a black and blue Jig X by
Vertical Lures. Those big spots fight like a freight train; they were really
slamming that jig.”
His tackle included 15 pound Triple Fish Fluorocarbon line, a Dobyn's flipping
rod, and a Quantum reel.
"Fall and winter are my favorite times for bass fishing,” Cox said. “Most
fishermen are in the woods and that's all right with me.”
The second-place finisher, Mike Robinson, weighed five fish in at 8.07 pounds.
