Bio: |
My father took me fishing for the first time when I was four years old. Ever since that time I have had a love affair with fishing and
the outdoors. Dad, my brother and I would spend long hours fishing from the Banks of the Potomac River, MD, where I grew up. My family moved to New Jersey when I was eleven. I was
supprised to find out that New Jersey had a lot of great fishing, both fresh water and saltwater.
I would spend my fishing time pursuing anything that would bite, blue gills, pickerel, catfish, etc. In high school, a friend introduced me to bass fishing. I was immediately addicted!
When ever I got a break from high school sports(I was a wreslter, tennis player and ren cross country), I was bassfishing.
During my freshman year in college, I met a guy that fished bass tournaments. That was the first time I had ever heard of tournament fishing and I was fasinated. On one occation his
normal team tournament partner couln't make it and my friend asked if I would want to enter a tournament with him. I jumped at the chance, especially because this particular tournament
was on my home lake. As luck would have it, we won the tournament and my life was changed forever.
I continued with college and graduated from Rutgers University (Go Scarlet Knights!) with an Envinromental Engineering degree. I speny several years working as an engineer and pursuing
my bass fishing passion on the weekends. I fished every tournament that I could find time for. Most of my tournaments I fished as an amatuer were in the Federation.
In 1996 I decideded to enter my first professional tournament and compete in the Bassmaster Invitationals. I almost won my second professional tournament(I finished second place),
which took place on the Potomac River. At the end of the season, I found myself ranked as one of the top 100 professionals in the world and was invited to compete in the Bassmaster Top
100.
In the summer of 1997 I retired from engineering and entered the world of professional fishing full time. Since that time my life has been full of ecitement. I have stood in the
winners circle and been left just an ounce from making the cut. I have also stood in front of twenty tousand cheering fans competing in world championships.
I am very passionate about the outdoors and about the awesome sport of bassfishing. I never take for granted that my office is my Ranger Boat and I get to fish almost everyday. One of
my favorite things about being a professional angler is that I am constantly challenged. As a result I am always learning and growing as an angler and as an individual.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Tom Brands (Olympic Wrestling Champion and Three-time NCAA champion). "There's really no better life than when you are training, competing, and
winning at the highest level."
