Hello, I am Derrek A. Brown. I am 32 years old I have been fishing as long as I can remember. I had it so bad when I was 5 or 6 years old until I would put my little "kiddie" chairs on top of my grandmother's coffee table and pretend it was a boat. She was big on sewing so she would go outside, find a couple sticks and make me some little fishing poles out of her yarn or thread so I could pretend I was fishing in the den of her home. Yeah I know, crazy! Being a south Alabama native, the majority of my youth, whether if it was hunting or fishing was surrounded by the outdoors. Since this time, I have strived to put myself in a position that would allow me to give back to the outdoors what was given in me as a child. Growing up in Alabama has its advantages because it has allowed me to become familiar with the many lakes and river systems that flow through the state. Some of those waters include the Coosa River Chain of lakes, The Alabama River and the Mobile/Tensaw River Delta, which is only 5 minutes from my hometown of Mt. Vernon, Alabama. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 1999, I have used the last 8 years to my advantage by fishing and navigating most of the lakes here such as Lanier, Allatoona, Sinclair, West Point and Clark's Hill to name a few. I currently reside in Dallas, Georgia where I have lived since October 2005 with my supportive wife Diana and my 1-year-old daughter Delaney. I thank God for having a wife that supports me in this dream as she is able to take care of home while I am on the road fishing. This is very important because Tournament fishing can get very stressful but knowing she has my best interest at hand puts me at ease when times get hard. I have been fishing competitively since 1999 and since this time Jig and other soft plastics have become my lures of choice. After learning about Vertical Lures and their variety of lure designs I wanted to be a part of this organization and the innovations that they are constantly coming up with. In all, I really appreciate VERTICAL LURES and I thank them for giving me an opportunity to represent their company and line products.
