I began fishing with my dad at a very young age and haven't looked back. Fishing was in my blood and still is. I started bass fishing in 1980. Then in 1984 I joined a Ladies Bass club in Houston,Tx. And that is where I really learned that fishing Bass Tournaments was meant for me. I love the all the challeges that tournament fishing presents. I have met alot of wonderful people thru fishing and some of them remain my friends over all the years of competing in tournaments.
I have a wonderful husband that fishes also and we compete in alot of team events as well as competing against one another. He was a my rock this year while I competed in the Women's Bassmaster tournament Trail. He got the knick name of Equipment Manager for Juanita Robinson. He backs me in every event I enter. We met while in a bass club together and teamed up and are still teamed up 21 years later. We have 3 wonderful Children between the 2 of us and 6 grandchildren. I am blessed with a wonderful family and tons of friends.
My Home Lakes are Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn, Texas. We have a home on Toledo Bend and fish there alot. The water level has been very low on Toledo Bend the past year. But , with all the recent rain the level is back up to 168. I sure hope we get more rain so it will come on up for the spring spawn. Alot of the business around Toledo Bend have had a bad couples of years in 2005 and 2006. I hope 2007 brings a brighter year for all the lakes in EastTexas and the Business.
The hydrilla is coming back strong in Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. We do alot of droping in the grass on these two lakes. That is probably my favorite thing to do in the summer months. We used Zoom 10" old monster worms, Gene Larew Hawg Craws and 1/2oz - 3/4 0z jigs with either a 1/2oz or 3/4oz weighton 50-80 braided line. There is nothing like setting the hook on a big fish in the grass. You bring up the fish and maybe about 10lbs of grass. What a rush.
Probably my second favorite fishing method is bed fishing. I have learn this over the years of fishing with my husband. You really have to stay focused and have a keen eye site and know what your looking for this type of fishing. I use either 4-5" tubes, Senkos, craw worms, or lizards when bed fishing. The color of the baits I use for this type of fishing depends on the water clarity and what the fish want. Sometimes it might take an hour to get one of these fish to bite and then it might only take a matter of minutes. It all depends on the fish.
My mission is to promote the sport of fishing. To be a positive role model for all women young or old, and not only to my grandchildren but, to all children. Always have a positive attitude, with goals and a desire to over come any obstacle.
